More about the provenance Sarab, ca. 1930 | Iran
Sarab is located in North West Iran. Sarab in its West verges on the district of Tabriz, in its East on Ardebil and in its North on Ahar. The district and the city of Sarab is located in main carpet weaving areas. Sarab rugs, woven with a relatively thick Turkish knot, the double weft amd a thicker wool pile, are very reliable and resistant rugs. They are held in mainly light ivory and red colors and often have the hexagon as their main motif.
